Andries Burger, the veteran cellarmaster of Elgin’s storied Paul Clüver estate, joins us on Thursday, 27 August 2026 at Prosopa Restaurant for an exclusive Wine Evening & Gourmet Dinner.

In the heart of Pretoria’s Waterkloof Heights, Chef Patron Dino Fagas and in-house Sommelier Moses Magwaza invite you to an evening of warmth, hospitality and exceptional South African wine.

A graduate of Stellenbosch University and a member of the Cape Winemakers’ Guild, Andries has embraced Burgundy’s heritage at Paul Clüver, Elgin’s longest-established winery. The cool Elgin climate, once famed as the Western Cape’s apple-growing heartland, is ideal for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Andries often notes these Burgundian varietals achieve clarity and poise here. Indeed, Elgin is “noted for its long history in apple cultivation”, a tradition the Clüvers continue.

Your evening begins with a welcome Paul Clüver Sauvignon Blanc, bright and zesty with passionfruit and gooseberry. The tasting then moves through five distinctive wines: Village Chardonnay with fresh apple and white peach, Village Pinot Noir with vibrant red berries, the elegant Estate Pinot Noir with juicy fruit and refined structure, and the flagship Seven Flags Pinot Noir, offering greater depth, complexity and fine tannins. The journey concludes with Paul Clüver Riesling, fragrant with citrus and lime, with a beautifully balanced finish.

Each wine is thoughtfully paired with a bespoke four-course menu by Chef Dino, creating a seamless progression from glass to plate.

As winter settles in, Prosopa’s warmth, complete with a roaring fireplace, provides the perfect retreat.
